My New Year Resolutions 2016

Hi Everyone!
As you can see from the title of this post, I am going to be talking about some of my new year resolutions. I didn't even think that I would be doing this post but I have been inspired by Lana x's YouTube video on her new year resolutions. There's quite a lot so I'd better get started:

1) To get toned. I honestly need to lose some weight and with that, I also want to get toned abs. I don't mean a fully visible 6 pack, just slightly toned.

2) To stick to my revision timetable! This is a really big one for me and probably the most important one. I get bored quite easily so will stop revising and just laze about. I really need to begin to stay more motivated and revise so I don't panic when my exam approach.

3) This is probably a big one on everyone's list - to save money! This is something my mum suggested to me which is to put aside a certain amount on a monthly basis and save it for the future. I think I might have to do that and pull back my urge for buying new makeup.

4) To look after my skin. I don't always wear makeup and don't ever sleep in it so I don't really take care of my skin like I should. On days that I don't wear any makeup, I feel like I can just miss my skin care regime but taking care of your skin is always important. I have already planned my skin care routine and hope to stick to it!

5) To get a decent night's sleep. I struggle to go to sleep on time which results to me waking up like an hour before it's time for me to leave for school and it's even worse when I don't have to get up for school! If I go to sleep early, I always end up waking up at ridiculous times like 3am! I have no idea how I am going to do this but I hope I do.

6) To exercise regularly. This kind of links to some of my other resolutions; to get toned, to get a decent sleep and I guess it can help with your skin as well. I would like to exercise everyday whenever I get the time, even if it's just like 20 minutes - every minute helps!

7) To improve on my makeup. Having only started wearing makeup like less than a year ago, I really feel I need to up my makeup game and make it more of a professional quality. I guess I should add this here as well, I really want to store my makeup properly. Right now, I have a dressing table and some acrylic containers. My mum has the IKEA Malm and she's happy with swapping our dressing tables around as she feels it's a bit big for her use. Once this is done, I really want to organise all my makeup properly.

8) To never give up and be confident! I need to remember to never give up no matter how hard things get - with each hardship comes ease. I need to remember to be confident at all times and if I believe in myself, nothing can go wrong. This is really important to me, especially with my GCSEs.

9) To improve my blog. I literally have no followers on my blog so I really need to improve it to make it something that people love. This is probably one of the more difficult resolutions as I have a busy life - school, homework, revision and family. Despite this, I will still try.

10) To be a better person overall! I'm not suggesting change. I understand no matter how hard I try to be the person someone wants, I will always have my flaws. Also, no one should have to change for someone, everyone has the right to show their own unique personality. I just want to have a more positive attitude and appreciate the people that I love and the people that love me.

What are your new year resolutions?

Makeup Revolution - Iconic Pro 2 Review

Hi Everyone!
As you can already tell from the title, I am finally going to do my first review on my blog. To start of my reviews I decided to review one of my favourite eyeshadow palettes from one of my favourite drugstore brands - Makeup Revolution.  This is the Iconic Pro 2 Palette.

First of all, can we just appreciate the packaging. I am a massive sucker for packaging with my favourite being sleek matte black. For this palette, Makeup Revolution uses a sleek black matte case with rose gold writing which comes in a rose gold box.

This palette may look familiar to you but that is because it is a dupe for the Lorac Pro 2 Palette but it is obviously a lot cheaper. When you open the palette, it reveals a full size mirror which is a huge plus for me. It then has a plastic sheet over the shadows telling the names of each. Most people I know just throw this away but I like to keep it because it has the shade names and also because it helps stop the eyeshadows dirtying the mirror. I would much rather prefer the names on the actual palette but hey-ho you can't have everything.

Just like the Lorac Pro 2 Palette, this palette also has matte shades in the top row and the shimmers in the bottom. The colours are very buttery and pigmented but I can't compare this to the Lorac version as I do not own it. I haven't used all the shades yet but my most used one is probably Chase (the second matte) which I just like to use in my crease to add some depth. I love all the colours and cannot wait to experiment with each one.

I have swatched two shades - one matte and one shimmer. They are New Day (the fifth shimmer) and Silk (the second shimmer). As you can see the pigmentation is great especially for the matte. I didn't expect the shimmer shade to show up much either but I was wrong! If the pigmentation is this great on its own, imagine what it would be like with a primer underneath!

These palettes also come with a double ended brush made with synthetic hair unlike the Lorac Pro 2. In their old palettes, MUR have the standard double ended sponge applicator that most people end up throwing straight into the bin. The fluffy end of the brush, presumably for blending works great and I love using it in my crease. However, the other flat side which is probably to apply shadow doesn't work as well because it is shiny so the shadow will not properly stick to the lid. Do not let this put you off though because the shadows are great, brush or no brush.

Overall, I think this palette is great for anyone looking for a drugstore dupe of the Lorac Pro 2 Palette. If you are looking for a dupe for the Lorac Pro 1, do not fear as MUR already have the solution for that - enter, Iconic Pro 1. I do not own this palette but I really want to try it. If you haven't already figured it out, the Pro 1 contains warm shades whereas the Pro 2 has cooler shades. I think both of the palettes are totally worth it especially for the £6.99 price!

Makeup Lust List #1

Hi Everyone!
Today I will be sharing with you some of the items that are on my wishlist. They are fairly affordable drugstore products. I absolutely adore each and everyone of them and can't wait to purchase them and review them here on my blog (on that note, reviews will be here really soon once I have got my camera sorted).
These are the products:
Just by looking at these products, you can probably tell why I am so in love with them without even having used them. I will go through each product and why I want them.

Makeup Revolution Ultra Cream Contour Palette - £8.00
First up we have this cream contour palette. Doesn't it remind you of something, something very expensive, the ABH contour palette, maybe? This is a very similar dupe but with the added bonus of two extra shades. So I did some calculations and according to them you are paying £6.50 per pan for the ABH palette but for the MUR palette, you are only paying...£1. YES, £1! I have watched and read so many reviews on this palette and I am sure quality will not be compromised. This palette is available in powder and in cream but I want the cream as I want to try something new and I have also heard that cream gives you a more natural-looking result.

Gosh Velvet Touch Lip Liner - Antique Rose - £4.99
I think I first saw this lip liner in one of Sebina H's videos and I have fallen in love. Everything from the packaging to the colour is of my taste. The colour is a very muave-y pink and best of all, it is a matte. I will definitely be wearing this a lot!

Collection Extreme 24Hr Felt Tip Liner - £2.99
I love felt tip liners and when my friend recommended this to me, it instantly took up a place in my wishlist. It has a black packaging (you can probably tell I have a thing for black packaging) and is by Collection, a brand that is in my good books, best of all, it has a very affordable price tag. Bye-bye my old friend (the Maybelline liner).

NYX Soft Matte Cream  - Cannes - £5.50
I used to see these lip creams everywhere but they weren't available in the UK until now. For those of you who don't know, Boots now stocks the much raved about beauty brand, NYX. When I first found out, I literally squealed. I really want to try their matte lip creams as I've seen them all over YouTube. Every single colour is beautiful, but if I had to choose only one, it would definitely be Cannes. It is my sort of colour - a (matte) muted muave.

Freedom Brow Pomade - £5.00
I really want the ABH Dip Brow Pomade but it is expensive so I think this would be a great dupe. I have checked some reviews and so far so good. It is also made by the sister brand of Makeup Revolution which is one of my favourite drugstore brands so I have high hopes.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick - Peach Club - £8.99
I was first introduced to this lipstick by my friend and I love it. I was skeptical at first as I tend to stay away from peach-y shades but I have to say this goes great with my complexion. I would have bought this long back but unfortunately it is always out of stock. I will definitely be trying other colours in this range as well.

Rimmel Kate Matte Lipstick - Wine - £5.49
Everyone and their sister have tried the Rimmel Kate lipsticks and have loved them but I am yet to feel the joy. This is a deep red which is perfect for the Autumn/Winter months. I really hope to add this to my collection before spring comes our way because as pretty Vibrant Coral is, it's just not my colour.

Makeup Revolution Ultra Blush and Contour Palette - Sugar and Spice - £6.00
The colours of this blush palette are beautiful and the different range would definitely suit all complexions. It also comes with a baked highlight and blush. I have heard that this palette has great pigmentation for the small price. The thing I love the most is that the blushers range from a natural everyday colour to a more dramatic colour which means it would be suitable for any occasion.

MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer - Reckless - £3.00
I remember the times I used to be all over MUA but then MUR came and MUA was forgotten. However, I still love MUA, mainly for their lip products which in my opinion are better than MUR's. I already have this lip lacquer in the shade Zest and even though the actual shade is slightly on the bright side for me, everything else about it is perfect. I have seen enough swatches to say it is highly pigmented and the colour is beautiful which I believe is universally flattering.

That's it for my wishlist!
Are there any beauty products on your wishlist?

Winter Outfit Ideas + Makeup Look

Hi everyone!
I'm so excited to have finally set up my new blog! Here I will be able to share my love of all things beauty and fashion.
To start of with, I wanted to do a winter look book sort of thing. My favourite thing about the different seasons aside from the beauty of it all is probably styling new outfits.
For this blogpost, I wanted to do four different outfits but I only managed two as my internet is really slow. Anyways, to make up for the missing two outfits, I decided to include my go to winter makeup. It is pretty similar to my normal makeup but during the winter months, I like to add a lot more colour to my face as I become a lot paler.
Anyways, let's start with the outfits. I just wanted to say that not all of the items linked are the ones I own, but they are similar.
Outfit #1

First of all, my outfit looks really similar to the one on the left, but I promise you I did not use it for inspiration. I found the top, bottoms, shoes and then I found the jacket and saw that my own outfit was similar to the one worn by the model. Anyways, this is a look that I often wore (changing it up every time) during the Autumn months but I feel it is still suitable for the Winter months. I have paired a basic turtleneck with black jeans and black ankle boots. To put the whole look together, I added a camel jacket/coat. I have a similar coat and I love adding a fur collar to give it a more winter-y touch. This outfit is very versatile which means you can change up the colours, shoes, etc to make it your own.

Outfit #2

This outfit is really similar to the first but I guess that's just my personal style. I have paired a white top with black trousers and some loafers. I can't remember the style of my own shoes but I guess it works with loafers as well. Instead of a coat, I added this longline cardigan so this will be more suited for the less colder days.

That's it for the two outfits. Just remember, not everyone has the same style so do not feel that you must dress exactly like any outfits you see. Feel free to take any outfit you like and change it up to make it your own. After all, everybody is unique.

My Go-To Winter Makeup

To start with, I apply my Olay Complete Care Fluid. I really love this moisturiser, it really helps keep my face feeling smooth and refreshed. I then go on to apply my Rimmel Matte BB Cream using my hands. This BB cream really gives me the coverage I need and is really light on the skin. I apply the Miss Sporty Liquid Concealer in a triangle shape underneath my eyes and then any other places that need to be highlighted. I use my beauty blender (dupe) to apply the MUA Sheer Loose Powder over the concealer and let it "bake" whilst I do my eye makeup.
I don't really wear much makeup on my eye but i just like to define my crease using the second matte shade in the Iconic Pro 2 Palette by Makeup Revolution. I absolutely love this palette - it's so pigmented for the price! I highly recommend Makeup Revolution eyeshadow palettes. I then use the Makeup Revolution Awesome Eyeliner - Felt & Kohl to do a really natural flick. I rarely wear eyeliner, but when I do, it's definitely this one. I then go on to apply the Makeup Revolution Viper Mascara in Black. This mascara is amazing for the price! The design of the brush allows it to touch every single lash including the annoying little ones. I also love the packaging. Next, I fill in my eyebrows using the I ♥ Makeup Brow Kit. This was actually a gift from a friend and I have to say I love it. I don't really use much as my eyebrows are already quite thick and dark but I just use it to define them a little bit more.
After my eye makeup is completed, I brush off the powder. I then contour my face using the Collection Contour Kit. This isn't the best contour kit but it still does the job. I use the Makeup Revolution Matte Blush in New Rules to add some colour to my face. I blend this upwards in with the contour to make it look natural. Lastly, I apply the Makeup Revolution Velvet Lip Lacquer in What I Believe. This is a really lovely lip colour and is quite natural. However, I sometimes wear it over a nude lip to really make it a 'my lips but better' colour. I have worn this so much since I have gotten it so it's almost run out!

Thank you so much for reading my first blog post!
Hope you enjoyed it, please leave a comment below telling me how I can improve and also feel free to ask any questions.
